Turn Over A New Leaf
When the leaves start to fall, its a good time to think of all the ways you can help save the earth. The next time you jump into a pile of leaves, remember that leaves can be recycled or made into compost.
What is compost?
Compost is a process that turns organic material, like leaves or table food scraps, into a rich soil that is often used for planting. Leaves are a natural example of composting. When leaves fall, they slowly break down to become soil that helps new plants grow. You can make your own compost, by piling up leaves in one corner of your yard. You have to be patient because composting can take a long timeup to six months if you dont stir the pile. Composting can be complicated, so ask someone to help you.
