The Oregon DEQ requires an owner or operator to have an accredited inspector perform an asbestos survey before demolishing a residential building built prior to January 1, 2004. More information is available on the DEQ website.

Separate brown, green and clear. NO light bulbs, plates, glassware, cookware, vases, mirrors, picture frame or window glass, ceramics, etc.

Flattened cardboard & brown paper bags.
Newspaper
Newspaper and what comes in the newspaper only. NO plastic bags.

- Paper - Junk mail, magazines, catalogs, phone books, cereal & cracker type boxes, office paper, shredded paper in a paper bag, milk, soup & juice cartons (rinse & drain). NO freezer boxes, coffee/paper cups, paper plates, napkins, paper towels, tissues, pet food bags or food-soiled paper.
- Metal - Clean cans, foil, pie plates and trays, empty spray cans
- Clean Plastic Bottles and Tubs - 6 ounces or larger, clean buckets - five gallons & smaller, rigid nursery pots, 4 in. across & larger. NO dirt, lids, Styrofoam, to-go containers, cups, plates, utensils, blister packaging, or motor oil or hazardous material containers.
Scrap Metal - Washers, dryers, dishwashers, hot water heaters, metal doors, bicycles, lawnmowers, barbeques, etc. All liquids must be removed, no propane tanks.
Electronics - TV's, laptops, computers, monitors, cables.
Motor Oil - Motor oil only. NO other automotive fluids.
Cooking Oil - Cooking oil only.
Wire - Christmas lights, extension cords, household wiring, etc.
Lead Acid Batteries - Vehicle batteries only.

The Following Materials Are Not Accepted
Asbestos, medical waste, contaminated soils, propane tanks, gas cylinders, fire extinguishers, explosives, ammunition, Creosote-treated wood, liquids except for motor oil and cooking oil.

Safe disposal of paint, batteries, pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, stains, thinners, solvents, cleaners, automotive fluids, spa and pool chemicals, hobby and art chemicals, propane tanks, sharps - lancets, syringes & needles, and mercury-containing products, such as fluorescent bulbs or tubes & old thermometers.
A $5 fee is charged for up to 35 gallons of household hazardous waste. Additional charges apply for containers larger than 10 gallons.
