Collection Information

WM Northwest
Auburn residents have weekly collection for garbage and compostables (yard and food waste) and every-other-week collection for recycling.

Place carts out by 7 am or no earlier than 24 hours before collection day.

Place 2 feet apart with lids opening toward the street.

Place 3 feet from obstructions such as cars, trees, fences, mailboxes.

Where available, place your carts in grass planter strips between the curb and sidewalk.

Where grass planter strips are not available, place carts out in such a way that does not restrict the reasonable and safe use of the street, sidewalk, or bicycle lanes by pedestrians, bicyclists, and automobiles.

Remove carts from public property no later than 24 hours after your collection day.

Holiday Schedules

WM observes three annual holidays: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day (Dec. 25), and New Year's Day (Jan. 1). All other holidays will not affect your collection schedule.

Weekday holidays will delay collection by one day for the remainder of the week. For example, if a holiday falls on a Thursday, Thursday customers will be collected on Friday and Friday customers will be collected on Saturday.

WM Recycle Right

The City of Auburn and WM use "Recycling Only Oops" to monitor contamination in recycling carts. If a driver spots unaccepted materials in your recycling cart, the cart will be tagged letting you know how to properly dispose of those items.

Our increased efforts in recycling right and reducing contamination is a result of new restrictions by China in the type of materials collected for recycling. We all need to do our part in helping to make recycling sustainable for years to come. To learn more about some of the changes in the recycling industry click here.

Cooking Oil Collection

Available 365 Days a Year

Where do you take your used oil? There is a FREE drop-off station (open 24/7) located at Les Gove Park, 910 9th ST SE, Auburn - just south of the water spray playground. Look for the cooking oil banner hanging on the fence and the black collection tank marked GENERAL BIODIESEL. Be sure to take your transport containers with you and leave nothing behind, (except your cooking oil in the tank!), so we can continue to offer this service for free to our residents. There are no restrictions on the amount you can bring to recycle.
